Why Performance Excellence?

It is simply the proven way to create Wealth, Value, Profitable Growth, and exceptional ROI.

Finding a place to start – or, why do you have to have an excellence model?

We used to believe that if you had the right set of tools you did not have to adhere to any particular model or framework.  However; experience has taught us that to be effective, those tools must be applied to the job of looking for the presence or absence of something.  And that something is what a good, useable model of excellence identifies as principles that affect Performance Excellence.  The Baldrige Award and the Shingo Prize Criteria are the gold standards for excellence.

Before embarking on a Performance Excellence program of any type, most company leaders insist on knowing the benefits of such a program.  With the time and effort required to implement such a program, it is critical that senior leaders and everyone who is to be involved, understand and support the anticipated process and results.

According to a survey conducted by Booz-Allen for the National Institute of Standards and Technology, Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipients expressed the following advantages of using Baldrige Criteria in their organizations:

  • Using the Criteria leads to results such as improved productivity and/or revenue and improved ROI
  • It is a holistic, encompassing approach that brings together all aspects of an organization’s performance into one strategic perspective
  • It serves as an excellent quality and/or performance measurement model
  • The Criteria is well-suited to the management needs of any organization
  • The feedback received from examiners is extremely valuable
